Previous News: Somerset County Council funds e-learning site for community volunteers

The Somerset County Council Community Chest Grant Scheme has seed funded a useful initiative, an e-learning resource for volunteers studying for a level two NVQ qualification, 'Volunteering in the Community'.

Somerset County Council logo They will soon be able to access a web site run by Young Somerset set up with help from a £500 Community Chest grant.

It's a classic example of a minute sum of money having a real impact at grass roots level.

Young Somerset is a countywide voluntary organisation working mainly in the rural parts of Somerset. They support 121 affiliated youth clubs that have over 4,500 members. Among other things they offer advice, training, activity programmes, international exhibitions, environmental projects and pre-provisional driving programmes for young people aged 14 years or over.
