Community Regeneration

Regeneration of Communities through Local Plans, projects and advice to voluntary groups

The focus of the team is to support community regeneration projects such as the Market and Coastal Town Initiatives (MCTI) We also manage the Village Halls Grant Scheme for Penwith and the Penwith Small Grants Scheme for voluntary and community groups, details of which can be found on the related pages.

If you would like assistance with any project development, please complete the Initial Project Enquiry Form opposite and we will assess the level of support we are able to offer your group.

The team's role is to:

Help broker support and advice on a range of topics including funding, from other agencies through our links with Penwith District Council and West Cornwall Together, the local strategic partnership.

Assist individuals and community/voluntary sector organisations with project development and funding applications.

Help groups build their capacity by sharing our experience and knowledge of regeneration programmes, programme management and project development.

Assist in helping groups to more effectively communicate their work to the community and other agencies.

To date, the team has assisted over 83 community groups to access funding in the reigion of £1,126.981 for a range of local projects. We are currently supporting the development of the following projects, amongst many others:

Sennen community and play facilities,
Wall community facilities,
Ellis Park play facilities,
Ayr Field - St Ives
We have also successfully developed a play strategy for the District and secured £200,000 of Big Lottery Funding.

Market and Coastal Town Initiative and Parish Planning

In Penwith, all towns and villages covered by the five area forums are undertaking a community planning exercise which will determine a vision and plan for the area. They are;

Hayle, St. Erth and Gwinear and Gwithian
St. Ives, Towednack and Zennor
St. Just Parish (including Pendeen), Morvah, Sancreed, Sennen, St. Buryan and St. Levan
Penzance Parish (including Newlyn and Mousehole) and Madron
Marazion, Ludgvan, St. Hilary and Perranuthnoe

How can my community group/project get funding?
This depends on many factors, including the type of project your group is hoping to carry out. In the first instance, contact our team for an initial project proforma to be sent out to you. Once you have filled this in and sent it back to us, our team will be able to identify whether your project is likely to be eligible for funding and will make contact with you to take things forward. You can also contact your local Councillor.

What initiatives are going on in my area at the moment?
As well as the list above, the team are dealing with community led projects from all parts of the District. Please contact us for further information.
