Empowering Communities is aimed at getting more people in the South West involved and influencing the decisions that affect their lives and local communities. The initiative is seeking to increase the number of people, particularly in disadvantaged areas, who participate in public issues, press for and contribute to the improvement of public services, and help to shape the future of the place where they live.
Empowering Communities is the South West consortium of a national programme, the National Empowerment Partnership, funded by the Department of Communities & Local Government (CLG) to improve the quality and functioning of relationships between citizens and government, and to enable people to influence decisions which affect them.
