Dorset POPP – fulfilling the needs, desires and aspirations of older people

Dorset's Partnership with Older People Project, or POPP, is a complex programme driven by and aiming to fulfil the needs, desires, and aspirations of the older people in the county.

Its vision is ‘to build supportive communities to enable older people to remain living in their own homes for as long as they wish' by developing responsive and appropriate services and activities at a localised level. That's a sweeping ambition - but in its first three years of life, POPP has already made huge strides towards achieving that goal.

The Dorset Partnership for Older People Programme (POPP) is an excellent example of a multipartnership initiative that has successfully achieved engagement on a huge scale and empowered older people to become involved in identifying and shaping services and activities to improve their own health and address their wellbeing needs.
