Design: Housing Associations Encourage Design Champions
Design South West has worked with Spinnaker Housing Group to produce, 'our design, your inspiration', a brochure to encourage more people in Housing Associations to become Design Champions.
The six page document explains what Design Champions do and how their work can benefit their organisations and the wider environment in which we all live.
Jitinder Takhar, Group Director of Business Development at Spinnaker Housing Group said, "Housing Associations in the South West recognise that good design is not just for high profile projects. Innovative design should now be an integral part of every project.
A good design champion is someone who is committed to and passionate about promoting design that contributes to long term sustainability and wider regeneration issues."
The Design Champions' Network for Housing Associations was established in 2005.
Andrew Wiles, Director South West Housing Corporation said, "The ultimate test of the effectiveness of the Network will be its impact on the quality of housing design. Feedback to date from participants is very positive and we will work hard - and imaginatively - ensuring this remains the case."
Mark Pearson, Head of Design South West is enthusiatic about the role of design champions, "Design champions need to be able to think laterally and for themselves, but will discover that there are many sources of advice and support as they begin to develop their role".
