Design: Expression of Interest for Design Services, Greenway Project

The practice is required to develop a landscape design solution to the Greenway, a key pedestrian and cycle spine in the Lower Lea Valley that forms a significant part of the southern end of the site; it is envisioned to be available for public access by summer 2008.

The Greenway is the name given to the embankment and public wayfare that runs along the top of Thames Water's outfall sewer. It runs from Victoria Park to West Ham and is approximately 3km. The project is also likely to include a section of the Lee Navigation towpath from Carpenters Road to the Greenway at Old Ford Lock.

The commission will be to undertake design services for a phased redesign of the Greenway. Initially the ODA will be seeking to implement works in 2007 to provide a route for pedestrians and cyclists between Stratford High Street to Victoria Park and a section of the Lee Navigation towpath from Carpenters Road to Old Ford Lock.

The ODA is looking for practices that can demonstrate a high level of creativity and design quality as well as the ability to collaborate positively with ODA design and delivery partners and Arup, which will be providing support services including structural advice. The commission is for consultancy work below the OJEU threshold.

From Expressions of Interest practices will be short-listed for interview.

Expressions of Interest should include the following information:

• Practice design philosophy (max one side A4);
• Examples of past work (max six sides A4);
• Practice profile and key individual profiles;
• An example of a delivered project and how it responded to programme and cost restraints (max one side A4);
• Summary of practice turnover and Professional Indemnity (PI) cover limits;
• Contact details from two previous clients for references.

The ODA will look positively at submissions from established emerging practices.
