Design: RIBA Town and Country Design Awards 2008
The award scheme looks at the impact of new and converted buildings in both rural and urban settings and aims to highlight the contributions made by talented architects who are working within the Wessex and South West Regions or the Channel Islands.
The awards jury, made up of architect peers and lay assessors, will judge each building in its setting, considering fitness for purpose, consistency of design, use of materials and whether a building is likely to remain a fine work of architecture throughout and even beyond its full working life. Particular note will be taken of the way in which schemes relate to their surroundings and exist within the context of the region. In all awards the judges will be considering the sustainable credentials of the building, however we are pleased to confirm that a specific award to recognise achievement in sustainability will be made with the support of Groundwork South West.
