News From Other Organisations: First Swap Shop Sees Wood from the Trees
Dorset Coppice Group is the first organisation to use the Swap Shop. The Group which manages a woodland area in Dorset, visited a community woodland 'Hill Holtwood' in Lincolnshire.
The Dorset Coppice Group has just secured an area of project woodland and felt they could benefit from seeing a woodland project that was already up and running.
Mandy Joyce from Dorset Coppice Group said, "The visit inspired us and has given us many different ideas that hopefully we can include in our woodland project."
"We look forward to hosting a visit and feel that this sort of project is particularly useful to our members. Woodsmen generally work in isolation, but the common interest of the wood brings them together and results in exchanging of ideas and information. Cooperative working developing naturally!"
If your organisation wants to benefit from visiting another organisation but you are finding it difficult to find the budget for the trip then please see our Swap Shop page for more information about how we can help make your visit a reality. Read more about the Swap Shop
The Dorset Coppice Group was formed out of the Wessex Coppice Group. In late 1999 a number of coppice woodsmen in the county decided that a local group was needed to promote the industry and it's products. The members are committed to promoting the coppice industry and to informing landowners of the importance of having the traditional coppice woodlands firmly back in production.
