Taunton Deane Borough Council, supported by the Local Strategic Partnership, needs to establish a baseline position from which to develop local community strategies in two separate areas known at North Taunton and Taunton East. Both are Enterprise Areas.
As yet there is no clear, comprehensive understanding of the needs, current issues, activities and committed resources for either neighbourhood. It is now considered necessary to draw these together to enable the neighbourhoods to move forward.
This desk-top baseline assessment will form the basis for a 'community strategy' for each neighbourhood. However, until all information is brought together it is unclear as to whether any further consultation and planning will be required to ensure communities and agencies have agreement and ownership of future plans.
