Evidence: The Performance Improvement Hub
Interested in improving the performance of your voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisation? Or perhaps you are supporting VCS organisations to improve their performance? Either way, The Performance Hub maybe just what you’re looking for.
The Performance Improvement Hub is a partnership of voluntary and community sector organisations which has come together to improve the support available to the sector around improving its performance. The Performance Hub is one of six national hubs with others covering: governance, workforce development, information and communications technology (ICT), funding, and volunteering. For further details see the Performance Improvement Hub web site.
For any voluntary or community organisation, its 'performance' is the extent to which it achieves its mission and furthers its cause. Improving performance is therefore about better achieving your mission, about achieving better outcomes, and about becoming a better quality organisation.
No tool, system, method, technique, approach or consultant can (or should) tell you exactly how to achieve your mission more effectively. However, a number of tools can support you in making these decisions, by helping you to:
- think in new ways
- ask the right questions
- generate and understand valuable information
- include the right people in the performance improvement activities.
There are many tools, methods and approaches that organisations can use to improve their performance, including:
- Identifying organisational strengths and weaknesses
- Assessing and improving quality
- Evaluating your outputs, outcomes and impact
- Strategic planning
- Benchmarking processes and outcomes against other organisations.
