Neighbourhood Statistics (NeSS) has just released various new sets of data which may be of interest for your work. The data covers areas such as: Population, Fires, Land-use, Births and Education.The new NeSS datasets released include:

Land Use Statistics (Generalised Land Use Database), 2001
Land Use Statistics (Previously Developed Land), 2004
Working Age Client Group, August 1999 to August 2005
Resident Population Estimates by Sex: Summary Statistics, mid 2001 to mid 2003
Low Birthweight Live Births, 1999 to 2003
GCSE/GNVQ Results for Young People by Gender in England (referenced by location of pupil residence), 2002/2003
National Curriculum Assessments of 11 Year Olds by gender in England (referenced by location of pupil residence), 2002/2003
National Curriculum Assessments of 14 Year Olds by Gender in England (referenced by location of pupil residence), 2002/2003
