Evidence: New Neighbourhood Statistics
Following extensive consultation and user research, together with the adoption of a new approach to 'User Centred Design', the Office for National Statistics have just released a new version of their website. Click here to view the new site.
As well as the obvious cosmetic changes, the website has been re-designed to provide:
• a quicker, more straight-forward route to the information,
• instant comparison of your area to higher geographical areas,
• more up-front information in the data selection process in terms of years available and volume of data,
• changes that remove the need to select from a 'geographical hierarchy',
• signposting to other sources of local information,
• pin-pointing of area types by using postcodes.
One major change is the inclusion of the new 'Find Statistics For An Area' journey (top-left section on the homepage). Within a few clicks you will be able to quickly find information for your area, along with comparative statistics for larger geographical areas. There is also more guidance provided on route to the information, and further assistance is offered in cases where they do not hold data for the specific area chosen.
