News From Creating Excellence: Invitation from Creating Excellence and the Academy for Sustainable Communities - Skills Competency Framework

Developing a sustainable communities competency framework - Invitation to participate

Logo: ASCOffice for Public Management (OPM) has been commissioned by the Academy for Sustainable Communities to design and develop a Sustainable Communities (SC) competency framework.  Such a framework will be the primary source of information concerning the skills required to work in the context of sustainable communities whatever a person's professional background.

This is an exciting opportunity for those of you who either work in this field or who have a specific role or interest in developing sustainable communities.  OPM is holding a number of events to draft and refine a competency framework.

In the South West Region we are holding a 2-hour event on the 20th April (11.00am - 1pm) - followed by a buffet lunch for up to 16 stakeholders. This event is open to those who have a specific interest in developing sustainable communities and includes:-

  • those who work in the core occupations (such as those working within built environment professions, planners and decision makers, and staff from voluntary and community associations)
  • those who work in associated professions (such as education, health, police, and social care), and
  • community leaders, faith leaders etc.

Places are limited, and if possible, we are looking for a mix of representation, therefore there is a need to book as soon as possible.  The deadline is 13th April.  Please return the registration form (below) to Kelly Stoker by e-mail: kstoker@opm.co.uk, or contact her on 020 7239 7837.

The process to the event in April has included or will include:

  • A half-day stakeholder workshop, held in February
  • A series of regional focus groups during March to draft the competencies
  • 3 follow up events in April to present and refine the draft statements.

If you would like to participate, please complete registration form.
