Funding: Launch of Local Action for Rural Communities (South West)
The South West Regional Development Agency has announced the launch of a £28 million initiative (Local Actions) to help rural communities in South West England make lasting improvements to the life and economy of their areas.
Local Actions which is being part funded through the European Union will build on previous EU-funded LEADER+ projects which supported a range of successful initiatives in rural areas across the region.
The Local Action funding process will start with groups submitting initial outline applications - expressions of interest - which have to be in by the end of December. They will be assessed regionally, and feedback will be provided by the panel. Final applications from the Local Action Groups will be required by the end of May 2008 and funding decisions will be announced in the summer.
A series of road shows will be held across the region over the next six weeks for groups and individuals interested in learning more about how to get involved in this initiative, either by forming a new Local Action Group or joining an existing group and how their rural communities could benefit.
