Rewards 2007 logo

We are proud to announce that Cornwall Sustainable Energy Partnership won our inaugural REWARDS scheme on 5 December 2007.  Otter Rotters, a community-based recycling scheme, was the runner-up.  Two other schemes West Cornwall Migrant Worker Action Group and Beyond the Immediate - a report on the needs of the over 50s in Wiltshire both being highly commended.

We received over 40 nominations to our REWARDS scheme.  The REWARDS are our regeneration and sustainable communities awards for South West organisations and projects. We'd like to thank all those who nominated projects for these awards.

All the entries were interviewed by Creating Excellence staff members and appraisals completed.  The independent judges then met to pick nine finalists who received their REWARDS on 5 December at a special evening dinner in Bristol.  In addition to selecting the finalists the judges chose an overall winner, a highly commended runner-up and two highly commended third place projects.  The judges also decided on a specially commended project and four commendations.

The nine finalists in alphabetical order were:

The REWARDS dinner is on 5 December at the Thistle Hotel in Bristol, the night before our conference 'Growing a Sustainable Region' at the Watershed.

The world-renowned motivational expert Jack Russell (not the cricketer!) will be speaking at the REWARDS dinner when the winner will be announced.  There will be photography and films of the finalists giving a taster of their amazing work.  To book a place to network and be inspired at this ‘best practice' event with a difference please e-mail conference2007@creatingexcellence.org.uk.  Places are limited and are strictly ticket only.
