New Start magazine has reported that regional planning bodies have been told to consider setting up community focus groups, as part of the government's aims to overhaul the planning culture and establish sustainable communities.
Two planning policy statements have been launched
- PPS11 on regional spatial strategies, and
- PPS12 on local development frameworks

Home Office minister Fiona MacTaggart has just launched the Civic Pioneers' Network of local authorities working to get local people more involved in decision making.
