South West Foundation Reports on Older People's Empowerment

The South West Foundation with sponsorship from Help the Aged has just published its Research into the work of Older People's Forums. There are over 400 older people's forums in the Country involving many thousands of older people. The main aim of these forums is to to give older people a voice and to enable them to influence local decisions. This report looks at the activities of those forums, their value and the way in which they are able to have an influence. Report benchmarks efforts to enable people to influence local decisions

New Empowerment Research

Funding Secured for Empowering Communities Work in South West

The Communities Secretary, Hazel Blears, announced on Tuesday (5 March 2008) £2.3 million for the National Empowerment Partnership Initiative. Empowering Communities, the consortium led by Creating Excellence, is the South West arm of this work and will complete the pilot phase of its research work at the end of March.
